Moving from another host

Move your server to ThunderHost without losing your world, plugins or player data. You can do it yourself in a few minutes or ask us for help.

Before you move

• Stop the server at your old provider so the files don't change.
• Download a full copy of the files (ideally as a single .zip archive).
• If you use a database, export it to a .sql file (e.g. in phpMyAdmin).
• Note down the game version, server software and Java version.

Moving step by step

1. Order a server with the same softwareChoose the same game version and server software as at your previous provider.
2. Upload the archiveUpload the .zip file to the server's root directory via SFTP.
3. Extract and replace filesExtract the archive in the file manager and overwrite the default files.
4. Import the databaseCreate a database in the panel, import the .sql file and update the credentials in your plugin config / server.cfg.
5. Check the configurationMake sure server-port wasn't overwritten with your old port — see Network.
6. Update DNSIf you have your own domain, point the records at the new address.
