Server network with Velocity
Link your lobby, survival and minigames into one network — players switch between servers without leaving the game.

How it works
You need one proxy server (Velocity) and at least one backend server (Paper/Purpur). Players only connect to the proxy — the backends aren't visible to them.
| Server | Software | RAM |
|---|---|---|
| Proxy | Velocity | 512 MB – 1 GB |
| Lobby | Paper | 2 GB |
| Survival / modes | Paper / Purpur | as needed |
Proxy configuration
velocity.toml
player-info-forwarding-mode = "modern"
[servers]
lobby = "LOBBY_IP:PORT"
survival = "SURVIVAL_IP:PORT"
try = ["lobby"]Velocity generates a forwarding.secret file — copy its contents, you'll need them on the backends.
Backend configuration
config/paper-global.yml
proxies:
velocity:
enabled: true
online-mode: true
secret: 'FORWARDING_SECRET_CONTENTS'On every backend set online-mode=false in server.properties — the proxy takes over account verification.
🔒
Secure your backendsWithout a correct secret, someone could connect to a backend directly, bypassing the proxy, and impersonate any player. Don't publish your backend addresses.
